Just a quick note to point everyone to the exciting story by Fred Benenson on the CC International blog that the Nine Inch Nails Ghost I-IV album, which was released under a CC BY-NC-SA licence, was the best selling MP3 album on Amazon last year.

So even though you could download it for free, legally, from any peer-to-peer network, people still paid for it. And the CC licence doesn’t seem to have harmed sales.

There’s more discussion about the significance (or not) of this going on over at the CC International site. I encourage you all to join in.
