Smartcopying, the must go to website for all Australian schools and TAFE educators with a query about accessing, reusing or sharing materials, is unveiling revamped and updated information pages on OER and CC to mark Open Education Week. Smartcopying is published by the National Copyright Unit (NCU) which has become a co affiliate of Creative Commons Australia and is the new education lead for Creative Commons Australia and is therefore continuing with its excellent work encouraging educators to use and create CC licensed works.
The Smartcopying OER section now provides an overview of OER and why it is good for Australian schools, students and parents as well as providing information on where to find OER toolkits and guides, good OER resources, presentations made by the NCU on OER, videos on OER and open courses offered by P2PU on OER.
The Smartcopying CC section has been updated with recommended CC website and publication notices for schools and an updated database of websites that educators can use to find CC licensed materials.
The NCU is also working closely with Education Services Australia (ESA) to support its activities during Open Education Week running 9-13 March 2015. This event is being promoted in partnership with ESA via the Scootle Community which is a national professional learning network comprising over 18,000 educators. Planned events for Open Education Week include a Twitter hour discussion on OER and daily feeds showcasing OER resources to highlight the benefits to Australian educators and to encourage conversation and sharing!
