Their IP policy preferences open access, and encourages staff members to license their material under a Creative Commons Attribution licence. And they’ve actually followed through with this. For the last year they’ve been releasing their training materials on Wikieducator under this licence, allowing anyone to copy, distribute and even edit the material, even for commercial purposes.
Now they’ve put together the above video discussing their experience over this time, and how they think the policy has effected them and their students. It shows interviews with a lot of different staff members talking about the benefits and difficulties they’ve found in releasing their content for reuse by others.
A very useful and informative resource for anyone thinking of embarking on open education. We’ve added it to our teachers materials package. If you know anyone who might be interested, spread it around.
