The BBC Creative Archive started thier first trial with Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra this week, opening its archives to make programme extracts available for download, manipulation and sharing under the terms of the Creative Archive Licence (based on the Creative Commons archive).

The footage is taken from a whole host of BBC programmes and includes a wealth of material covering natural history, wildlife, science, locations, art and more. Gems include shots of cityscapes, sunsets, seascapes and other stunning visuals with, importantly, many more clips to come over the next few months.

Unfortunately the content is limited only to the UK public. People within the UK can download this material now from the Radio 1 Superstar VJs site.
